Adding Students to an AceDraft for Teams Batch With a CSV

This is where an admin fills a batch with students, and it's the busiest page in the workspace. I haven't watched it run, and I never imported anyone. I read its code on 19 September 2026, and everything below is what the code says. Students' real email addresses appear on this page, so it's for admins only.

Key takeaways

  • You add students by pasting or uploading rows of email, name.
  • If the rows outnumber the seats left, the whole import is refused.
  • Each new student gets the batch's free credits and a single-use sign-in link.
  • The Top up button is pre-ticked for everyone it lists after an import, so read the list before you press it.
  • Each new student is also sent the link by email. Resend link makes a fresh one for you to pass on.
  • Limitation: the list loads the first hundred students, and I didn't check what happens beyond that.

Prerequisites. An enterprise admin account and a batch. You reach this page with Manage users on a batch card. Keep the sample file handy if you're new to CSV.

How do I add students?

Paste one email,name per line into the box, or use Choose CSV file to load one into it. A header row is fine, and the page skips it. Download sample CSV gives you a small file named batch-users-sample.csv with two made-up people in it, which is the quickest way to see the shape.

Above the box is a seat counter that reads seats used out of the limit, and how many are left. When none are left the page says "This batch is full — no seats remaining" and the Import users button is disabled.

Press Import users. The page drops any row without an email address, and the server can skip more. Those come back as "row(s) skipped (invalid email)".

What if I paste more people than there are seats?

The import is refused as a whole. The server's message is "This batch has room for N more user(s); you tried to add M." Nobody is added from a refused list, so trim the list and try again. I read that check. I didn't trigger it.

What does each new student get?

Two things. The batch's free credits per student, whatever the tier set, and a single-use magic link that signs them in without a password. New students start with the status invited.

After an import, the page lists each new address next to its link, in the form /enterprise/auth?magic=<token>. Treat that list like passwords. Anyone with a link can sign in as that student, once.

Do students get an email?

Yes. As part of the import, each new student is sent an email with their sign-in link. The page also lists the links itself, which is handy when you want to check one.

If a student says nothing arrived, use Resend link on their row. It makes a new link, copies it to your clipboard and shows it on the page.

What are the conflict rows?

Some emails can't simply be added, and the page lists them with a reason. The reasons, as worded on the page, are already in this batch, already in another batch of yours, already has an AceDraft account, and could not be added, try again. A person who's already in this batch gets a tick box.

Top up N user(s) gives every ticked person the batch's default free credits again. It never runs by itself, but the boxes start ticked after an import. Untick anyone you didn't mean to top up.

Who is already in the batch?

A list headed Users, with a count, shows each person's name, email, a status tag (green for active, grey for anything else) and free credits used out of total. It loads the first hundred. View opens that student's detail page, and Resend link is on each row. I didn't check what happens past a hundred students.

What is moderator batch access?

At the bottom, each moderator has a Grant access button, which turns to Access granted once on. It lets that moderator see this batch's user list. The page says this is needed for the Suspend student picker in chat. If your organisation has no moderators, the page says so. Adding one happens somewhere else, and this page doesn't say where.

Who this page is for

Use it when you have a list of students and a batch with seats. Don't use it to find one student's resumes. This page shows who's in the batch and their credits, and the resumes are on each student's detail page.
